An Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria, where he has served as a faculty member since August 2012. He brings over a decade of rigorous scholarship, teaching, and public service to the fields of International Relations, Foreign Policy, and Security and Development Studies.

His academic trajectory spans two Nigerian universities: he earned a B.Sc. (Hons) from the University of Uyo (1998), an M.Sc. in International Relations from the University of Uyo (2002), and a Ph.D. in International Relations from the University of Calabar (2008). His doctoral research examined United States policy and security threats in the Middle East and the collapse of United Nations collective security. This training has shaped his scholarly engagement with global politics, regional integration, and African security and development.

In addition to his academic responsibilities, he has held several departmental and national service roles, including Examination Officer for the Postgraduate Part-Time Programme, Long Essay Co-ordinator for the Postgraduate Programme, and Ward Returning Officer for the 2019 Presidential and National Assembly elections as well as the 2019 Governorship and State House of Assembly elections. He is a member of the Nigerian Political Science Association and a Fellow of the Institute of Corporate Administration and the Institute of Policy Management Development.

His scholarly contributions include numerous journal articles and book chapters on ECOWAS regional integration and trade liberalisation, Nigeria’s foreign policy and trade relations with China, border security and the free movement of persons in West Africa, migration and Africa’s refugee crisis, terrorism and security in Africa, the Russia-Ukraine conflict and food security, and the politics of fuel subsidy in Nigeria.
